EUGENE — Seven turnovers. A 17-15 home loss to UCLA. Two losses in five games, after opening the season No. 2 in the AP poll. Oregon’s playoff ambitions have hit a wall, and Dylan Raiola’s miserable afternoon exposed the offensive problems threatening to take Dan Lanning’s fifth season in Eugene out of the playoff conversation by the time we hit Halloween.
Raiola completed 6 of 19 passes for 43 yards, threw two interceptions and lost a fumble. Those were three personal turnovers in a seven-turnover team meltdown. The Ducks fell to 3-2, dropped out of the AP Top 25 and ran out of excuses.
It was plausible that a year on the bench to develop behind a returning starter would level-up Raiola’s game. It worked in Eugene before, transforming Oregon QB1 Dante Moore from struggling UCLA starter to Oregon understudy to playoff-qualifier.
But this, what Raiola put on tape against UCLA, this was always his baseline. This was every bad game in two years as Nebraska’s starter rolled into three quarters of truly terrible football.
Here’s what Raiola and Lanning can hope to salvage from the wreckage of their 2026 season:
